The following recipe is simple and healthy. The secret is purely in the technique. The recipe and the photos come from my sister-in-law, Elizabeth Gentry, who currently resides in China as a photographer, closet foodie and mother of four.
It’s another New Year’s Eve, another Auld Lang Syne. It’s been a heck of an ’09 so, to celebrate getting on with 2010, treat yourself to a double dose of champagne. Drink a bottle of bubbly and pair it with one or more of these champagne-filled foods. And remember: Friends don’t let friends drink (or eat) cheap champagne.

Ouch...it hurts to see it in print, doesn't it? TWELVE DAYS. If you are a champagne whore like me (and you know you are), you are always on the lookout for a superb sparkling wine (French, if possible) which doesn't totally break the bank, tastes exceptionally yum, and makes you feel like you, too, could have tipped a glass with the best of them at one of Jay Gatsby's lavish parties or in the parlor room of the Buchanans. Although design is my life—at least writing about it—all things culinary are my favorite pastimes. I love to cook as much as I love to eat, and read cookbooks cover-to-cover like novels. What’s more, certain chefs are as much rock stars to me as musicians are to my hubby. (Any other Top Chef fans out there? Go Kevin Gillespe!)
...but I must caution you, if you are intersted in making/serving an everyday "crescent roll" for Thanksgiving which is predictably good, quick, and expected, I suggest that you stop reading this post, find the dough boy in the refrigerated section, and carry on about your day.
