24/7 Dope, Featured

Hello!

Welcome to Miscelaney, the blog. This being the inaugural post, I’ll do some ‘splainin. With a last name of Lane, and the idea I wanted to create a collection of all things interesting (to me at least) and semi-relevant topics, the end result is where you find yourself at right now–my blog.

I’m going to cover the gamet from Do-it-Yourself to beer croquet to good things “you really do want to know” to my opinion on hamsters. A mixture of everything (see how this works?).

So let’s just cut to the chase and onto my first post….

FitFlops…Fad or Fo’ Real?

Every so often, I come across a product that rocks my world and I shamelessly force it upon friends and family. Before I pick up the megaphone and start shouting features and benefits from the rooftop, I think it’s important to preface that even though I may have recently entered into a new age demographic (still younger than Courtney Cox, just sayin), I have traditionally been known as a girl woman of style. Not a true fashionista per say, but I’ve got enough going on that I’m categorized with a solid sense of good taste. So it pains me that I can parallel my new favorite addiction to that of the Gawd-awful Crocsmania of several years ago…which I loathed to be sure. BUT, today I stand on my soap box and preach about FitFlops. Yes people, you heard me correctly. Another “are they ugly-or-are they cute” phenomena. Regardless, they really are that and a bag of chips.

First off, they give you a total lower body work out when you wear them. Yes, yes, I’ll hold while you suffer a momentary, and possbily euphoric, seventies flashback to Dr. Scholls. Tromp around in these puppies and you are getting a respectable lower-body workout, all in your everyday circuit of home-to-car-to-Starbucks-to-work-to-where ever and then repeat. Crazy, right?

As if that ain’t good enough. The reeeeaaaaaal reason I love these flops is that they are good for your feet. This isn’t necessarily their official claim, it’s mine. They will however stand behind the waffleboard technology, developed by two doctors, which re-aligns your balance, cushions your feet and absorbs shock, which is great for your (my) aging joints and lower back.

I purchased Fitflops becuase I was having a foot meltdown after too many years of wearing the wrong shoes and being flat-footed. I’ve already seen the tendinitis in my knee tone way down (bonus from the shock absorption) and my foot crisis is all but gone, so long as I’m in my new favorite shoes. Really. And I suspect my lower back problems will also stay on the down low. I’ve just ordered my second pair (gold sequins to be my fancy flops). I haven’t worn them long enough to notice a marked difference in the tone of my legs, but you’ll be the first to know if my ass shrinks.

I stand behind the $50-$60 per pair price tag 100%. And I’m not a public committer like that. www.fitflop.com

They are very poplular on the island where I live. Love the idea, but hat the middle toe thingy. I was told at a shop here in HK, they are coming out with a non-thong style shoe. Hooray. They are the perfect accessory for my island lifestyle. . . .

I have not heard of these – but I must admit I am intrigued…

I did see these, but shallowly rejected them based on appearance. This is quite ironic based on some of the ugly items I DO wear in public. Perhaps they deserve a second look and a “try-on”. Let me know about the ass- minimizing…may have to run to the shoe store.

I also saw these on a local news report and looked them up. I couldn’t see spending so much on a pair of flip flops, especially since I didn’t know anyone who had them. Now that I know they are worth it, I will look into it again.

  5. After 3 months of wearing, definitely see a difference! And my feet are so, so happy!

Own 2 pair and love them!

Have you seen the new ones for fall???

  8. Nikki says:

What about the new, winter ones….do we like those???
