It’s another New Year’s Eve, another Auld Lang Syne. It’s been a heck of an ’09 so, to celebrate getting on with 2010, treat yourself to a double dose of champagne. Drink a bottle of bubbly and pair it with one or more of these champagne-filled foods. And remember: Friends don’t let friends drink (or eat) cheap champagne.
On the day before Christmas, Miscelaney sent to me 1 saving cocktail
On the seventh day before Christmas, Miscelaney sent to me 7 martinis shaking…..
If you are a champagne whore like me (and you know you are), you are always on the lookout for a superb sparkling wine (French, if possible) which doesn't totally break the bank, tastes exceptionally yum, and makes you feel like you, too, could have tipped a glass with the best of them at one of Jay Gatsby's lavish parties or in the parlor room of the Buchanans. Staying hydrated is one of the best things you can do for yourself. But the thing is, if you are like me, I really don't like the way water tastes all by its wittle self. Much like a child who is fed their peas mixed within the goodness of creamy mashed potatoes, I need associative conditioning. Now how am I going to do that with 32 oz of boring water? Wait for it....I have a solution. Yep. Something easy, healthy, and tasty to drop into my water which makes it taste yummy and optimally hydrates me.
Here's the final installment from the Daily Candy and the Patrón Social Club Perfect Pairings event. After my tequila tasting course I'm ready to unabashadley bring on these tequila-inspired, liquid divinities (someone else is going to have to do the cooking part). Enjoy!
Last night, 29 social media-istas plus myself had the very good fortune of participating in a Tequila Tasting Class & Party hosted by Del Rey & The Patron Spirits Company. The event was a thank you to Del Rey's Twitter followers.
Following is the second installment of the Daily Candy and the Patrón Social Club Perfect Pairings event held recently in New York.
Perfect Pairing #2:
MICHELADA REPOSADA paired with CARAMELIZED RADICCHIO & BEEF ROULADE
Going wine tasting on a sunny, crisp fall day is near perfection, at least in my book. Thanks to crush, there is always a flurry of activity which provides joe-average-wine-drinker opportunity for an inside peek at the behind-the-scenes world of wine making. With the boom of garagiste-type wineries, many of these warehouse wineries are doing their thing right before our very eyes. We did a short purple hand tour out in Woodinville's warehouse district this past weekend and here are a few highlights:
Who says martinis have to come in a glass? This is some funny stuff! Who knew vodka shape-shifted quite like that (and after my experiment in the kitchen just now, it most certainly does!)?
