It’s another New Year’s Eve, another Auld Lang Syne. It’s been a heck of an ’09 so, to celebrate getting on with 2010, treat yourself to a double dose of champagne. Drink a bottle of bubbly and pair it with one or more of these champagne-filled foods. And remember: Friends don’t let friends drink (or eat) cheap champagne.
For the Chocoholic
The best of both worlds—chocolate and champagne. These milk chocolate truffles are filled with bubbly Taittinger Brut la Francaise. JacquesTorres.com
All Scream for Ice Cream
Blending juicy peaches with sparkling wine—that’s one sure way to get in your 5 fruits ‘n’ veggies each day! Look for Talenti Sorbetto at your local market or go to www.icecreamsource.com.
Whoop It Up
You gotta love a company that makes champagne-filled Whoopie Pies. Who woulda thought? Apparently, Cranberry Island Kitchen did. www.cranberryislandkitchen.com
Come Here, Honey!
This Willamette Valley Champagne and Honey Mustard beautifully complements chicken and seafood, and makes a killer salad dressing. www.barhyte.com
For the Gourmand
Produced in the Champagne region of France, Martial Picat Champagne Vinegar is light and mild, a good bet for salads and vegetables (think asparagus). A vinaigrette made with it might just be unbelievable on oysters. www.igourmet.com
